I think most of us suffer from guilt and regret. Some more than others. Sometimes guilt is good. Most times it is not, guilt can make us sick. To learn more and bypass my preamble scroll down the page and click on “How do I Heal from Guilt?” by Reverend Misa Hopkins.
Most of my readers know that I am on a healing journey; physically, emotionally and spiritually. My life-long propensity to discover the meaning of life has propelled an insatiable appetite for seeking answers “out there” in the world.
I’ve researched, studied and filled bookshelves and bankers boxes with information relating to physical and emotional healing, spiritual development and enlightenment. I think I could be a most enlightened and healthy person if those states were found in information. But alas, enlightenment and health are not acquired through information we get “out there”.
However, that is not to say that “out there” is invalid because it is only by seeking outwardly that I’ve been led to where the real learning is; “in here”.
The events of the past six weeks have provided another opportunity for inward (in here) learning. I think that the most impactful learning was to realize that the most important state is to feel loving-kindness toward oneself as well as others. To move toward loving-kindness is the goal, nothing else is really that important.
One of the spiritual teachers and healers whose work led me to look inward is, Reverend Misa Hopkins. Misa personally experienced physical and emotional healing. Her book titled, “The Root of All Healing” tells of her experience as well as offers reasons why some people don’t heal and guides the reader on an inward journey to discover their own potential for health restoration.
I follow Misa’s blog where she writes articles about the healing process. Her article titled, “How Do I Heal From Guilt” is well worth a read and that’s why I share it with you now. From my own personal experience and research, I firmly believe there is an emotional component to illness.
Hope you enjoy Misa’s article, thank you for reading and following my blog while I ramble about my life experiences.

This sounds like something worth exploring. I had never thought about having to heal from guilt, actually. Great advice!

I agree, Kathy. It’s worth checking out Misa’s blog posts because she has some really great wisdom and remedies. It’s a process, but well worth it I think. Thanks for your comment, Kathy.

Thank you for sharing your story. It must be very painful. I can definitely relate to your comment. Have a look at Misa’s article http://self-healingsecrets.com/1162/how-do-i-heal-from-guilt/. She explains that it is SO important for us to learn how to have compassion for ourselves. We need to learn it and practice it daily to see results. It’s a process. Be kind and gentle with yourself, that’s what people tell me and I have to say that it does help.
Hi Marianne,
Thanks for sharing Misa’s post. I found it comforting. I know I have gone through periods where I felt guilt and regret. It can be a challenge to work through, but if you make the effort to come to terms with your past, you can let it go and begin to live in the present. I do agree that compassion is the way to ease your guilt.
Hi Cathy,
It’s so true. So glad you found Misa’s post comforting. Thanks for reading and commenting. Hope you have a great day.
Thank you for this, Marianne. I enjoyed the article. It’s timely (for me), and certainly something worth exploring. š
Wonderful, Robin. Misa has a lot of great articles on her website. Thanks for your comment. Take care.
Even when we don’t think we feel guilt, I believe it often lurks beneath the surface. The self-contraction we experience in our humanness, in our “selfness” may even bring up unrecognized guilt. To forgive ourselves and let go…on a deep level…will create healing. As we relax into “what is”, allowing, allowing, perhaps we’ll feel all sorts of shame and not-enoughness dropping away.
Beautiful, Kathy! Thanks for sharing your wonderful insight. Have a great weekend.
Just checking in with you, Marianne. You’ve been in my thoughts and I’d love to know how you are doing.
Doing better now, Patricia. Thank you for asking. I’ve been contemplating a blog post to articulate where I’m at during this present time however, I just haven’t been able to sit at the computer long enough to write my thoughts. Maybe this week it will happen. Hope you are well, Patricia.
